Cypress spreads across northwest Houston, from Towne Lake and Bridgeland out to Fairfield and the Berry Center, and the road that carries its name runs straight to our door. Spring Cypress Road ties the two towns together, so the studio an artist here pictures as far off tends to be nearer than the map suggests. Recording the song is the easy part. Earning the take that makes a listener sit still is the real work, and the opening seconds of a record decide it.
From most of Cypress the run is the Northwest Freeway out to the Grand Parkway 99, or Spring Cypress Road end to end when you want to skip US-290, and either way it is about twenty-five minutes. Pull in at Suite B5, load your gear, and the session starts. One engineer stays with you for the full booking and works at your tempo, so a take that is landing gets caught while it is still landing. Your mix happens inside those booked hours, so the playback in the room already sits shaped.
